BULLOCK, George Grosvenor

1799 - 1858

George Grosvenor Bullock was born in Birmingham on 25 March 1799 and baptised at St Phillip's Church, Birmingham on 28 October 1799, son of Joseph Bullock and his wife Ann née Swinson, who married at Birmingham on 6 February 1797. He lived at 8 Bruton Street, Berkeley Square, London but on 17 February 1845, his petition in bankruptcy was heard when of 57 Pall Mall, St James, Westminster and as an insolvent debtor had a grant of protection on 14 December 1848. In 1851, an artist portrait painter, living at Gerard Street, Westminster, London with his 52-year-old Welsh born wife Elizabeth. He exhibited five works at the Suffolk Fine Arts Association which was held at Ipswich in 1850, 'Dead Game', 'Fruit', 'Portrait of P. Percival, Esq. late of the Blues', 'Fruit and Figures' and 'Boy Playing the Flute' he also exhibited at the Royal Academy. George Grosvenor Bullock died at Tichborne Street, Haymarket, Westminster in 1858 and buried in Brompton Cemetery on 10 April 1858.
