ROODS, Thomas

1807 - 1871

Thomas Roods was born on 2 July 1807 and baptised at Westham, Eastbourne, Sussex on 10 December 1807, second son of Henry Crowhurst Roods (died c1825) and his wife Mary née Chrippes (1773-1847). In 1841, a 33-year-old artist, living at Great Marlborough Street, St James, London but by 1847 he had moved to 26 St Clement Lane, St Clement Danes, Westminster. He exhibited at the Suffolk Fine Arts Association at Ipswich in 1850 'Abstraction'. He was formerly of 40 Gloucester Crescent, Regent's Park, London when he died at Moor House, Petworth, Sussex on 17 March 1871, aged 63, his executor was his nephew William Edward Roods of Lewes, Sussex.
