CULLINGHAM, Lucy Amelia

1865 - 1953

Born at Ipswich on 15 April and baptised at St Matthew's church, Ipswich on 10 May 1865, daughter of Charles Cullingham, brewer, and his wife Eliza. In 1881, a 15 year old scholar living at 115 London Road, Ipswich with her parents, 60 year old Charles and 53 year old Eliza, with six siblings, Margaret A. 23, Kate A. 20, Laura L. 18, Charles S. 17, Ada 13 and James B. 11, all born in Ipswich. Lucy studed at Ipswich School of Science & Art and in 1880 awarded her certificate in freehand drawing. By 1901 she had moved to 26 Belsize Park, Hampstead, London where she was a companion to her 75 year old aunt Cordelia Barry, a widow. By 1939 she was back in Ipswich living at 10 Warwick Road, Ipswich and where she died in 1953, aged 88, she was unmarried.
