Known as 'Birdie' and although she loved to draw as a child, young Birdie stopped making art for many years and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Applied Social Science and an MA in Sociology of Contemporary Culture, before deciding that an academic life was not for her. She tried various other jobs and even went to the exotic climes of India and Nepal, before finally answering picking up her pencil again. Working in acrylic inks, acrylics, drawing, mixed media, pen & ink, watercolour and watercolour pencil, Birdie makes rich colourful paintings and sensitive drawings and illustrations which often depict magical worlds and strange rituals including abstract, decorative art, landscape and life drawings. She had exhibited at 'Out Of The Blue Gallery', Edinburgh, 'New Cut Arts Centre' and 'Halesworth Gallery in Suffolk and at the Ruskin Gallery in Cambridge. Birdie lived in Shropshire but now resides in the Orford area of rural Suffolk.
