WILDE, Elizabeth Maude

1862 - 1951

Elizabeth Maude Wilde was born at Sunbury-on-Thames, Middlesex in 1862 and baptised on 23 April 1862, second daughter of Edward Archer Wilde (30 April 1826-17 June 1889), a barrister, and his wife Mary Penelope Donnithorne (1839-18 March 1918), youngest daughter of Edward Harris Donnithorne of Colne Lodge, Twickenham, who married at Trinity Church, Twickenham, Middlesex on 18 August 1858. In 1871, Elizabeth was a 9-year-old, living at Shooter Hill, Warren Wood, Eltham, London with her parents, 44-year-old Edward and 31-year-old Mary, with siblings Mary Jeanette (1859-1952) and Henrietta Emily Charlotte (1868-1947), and they retained three indoor servants. After the death of her father in 1889, Elizabeth came to live at The Cottage, Mill Road, Buxhall, Suffolk where she was living in 1891, a 29-year-old artist, the home of 29-year-old John Edmond Twining (1862-1937) and his sister 26-year-old Mary Catherine Vining, both living on own means. In 1911, a 49-year-old, a visitor at Littleton Artington, Guildford, Surrey, the home of Revd George Robert Comyn Chilton (1826-1917), a retired clergyman, and his wife Francis Sophia who retained seven indoor staff. Elizabeth Maude Wilde died at Aubrey Lodge, Campden Hill, Kensington, London on 5 June 1951, aged 89, she was unmarried.
