WHITE, Robert
Robert White was born at Stutton, Ipswich around 1863, eldest child of Henry White, an agricultural labourer, and his wife Hannah née Marshall, who married at Sproughton, Ipswich in 1859. Robert studied at the Ipswich School of Science & Art and in 1880 received his certificate for Model Drawing. He then seems to have enlisted in the army and in 1881, a 17-year-old soldier, living at The Cottage, Stutton with his parents, 62-year-old Henry and 42-year-old Hannah, with four sibling sisters, Ann 13, Harriett 8, Emelia 6 and Georgiana 2, all born at Stutton. He is recorded as a Chelsea Pensioners' Service.
