Bury St Edmund's Art Society was established in the early 1950s, to promote artists and the visual arts. It is a lively society, open to artists working in an ever-widening range of media, including painting, in watercolours, oils and acrylics, mixed media, pastels or drawing plus print-making and sculpture. The Society's membership comprises people from all walks of life and includes many for whom art is a pleasurable pastime, as well as a number of distinguished professional artists. The club has annual exhibitions of members' work in St Edmunds Gallery at St Edmundsbury Cathedral in the Summer.
