MORSE, Harriet Wilkin

1859 - 1944

Born at Lound, Suffolk on 18 January 1859, daughter of Joseph Ramey Morse (1817-1889), a landed proprietor, and his wife Catherine Hepzibah née Wilkin (1833-1885), who married at Maldon, Essex in 1853. In 1861, a 2 year old living at Lound Street, Mutford, Suffolk with her parents, 45 year old Joseph and 28 year old Catherine, with four siblings. Of Lound Hall, near Lowestoft when she exhibited as a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1882 'Corton Church-Interior' and in 1884 two paintings 'Mountains of Angrogna, Italy' and 'Road in the Valley of Angrgna', she also exhibited at the Society of Women Artists in 1896 from 57 Bedford Gardens, London. She married at Norwich on 14 December 1899, Edward Deck (1843-1926). In 1911, a 52 year old living at Blyford Hall, Halesworth, Suffolk with her 67 year old husband Edward, a farmer. In 1939 a widowed artist living at Carisbrooke, Bramfield, Suffolk and she died at Ipswich in 1944, aged 85.
