Elsie Myer

As Hon. Elsie Montagu, she was born at 96 Lancaster Gate, Paddington, London on 5 March 1877, youngest of the six daughters, and four sons of Sir Samuel Montagu, Bart. (21 December 1832-12 January 1911), later 1st Baron Swaythling, banker, and his wife Ellen Cohen (28 October 1843-15 March 1919), youngest daughter of Louis Cohen, who married at 84 Gloucester Place, Portman Square, London on 5 March 1862. Elsie was educated at Doreck College, Kensington, London and married at New West End Synagogue, St Petersburgh Place, Bayswater, London on 31 October 1905, Reginald Abraham Simmons Myer (21 November 1879-11 April 1959) and they had one son and two daughters. A watercolour landscape artist and a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1920-1925 and exhibited from Walber House, Walberswick, Suffolk in 1920 'Kew Gardens' and 'Boats, Walberswick' and in 1921 'Among the Trees', 'The Bridge, Walberswick' and 'The Outbuildings'. In 1939 she was living at 52 Westbourne Terrace, Paddington, London with her daughter Sheila Ellen Marian Grenvile Myer [Conrad] (23 December 1910-19 November 1996), who was also an artist. Elsie Myer died at 84 Princes House, Kensington Park Road, Kensington, London on 26 July 1964.
