NUNN, Alexandra Louise

1863 - 1928

Born at Ipswich in 1863, daugher of Robert Lindley Nunn [q.v.] and his first wife Catherine Jane née Stutter, who died in 1884. Probably taught by her father and was a landscape painter in oil and exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club from The Tower, Westerfield Road, Ipswich in 1883 'A Sketch' and two sketches in 1884 and in 1885 an oil 'A Quiet Evening' and a watercolour 'A Sketch in Geresheim' and a member of Ipswich Art Club 1889-1900 where she was a regular exhibitor, showing thirty-six works during her membership including in 1890 from Westerfield Road, two oils 'Walberwick' and 'Needham Lime Pits' and a watercolour 'A Sketch on the Common' and in 1891 four oil paintings 'Cottages at St Jacut, Britanny', 'Manor Farm Buildings, Westerfield', 'Night Scene at Britanny' and 'St Malo from Dinard'. Her subjects were mostly local views, but also some continental scenes including 'Village on the Scheldt' in 1889. She also exhibited at the Bury & West Suffolk Fine Art Society in 1882 'A Sketch of Dusseldorf'. She died at Lewisham in 1928, aged 65, she was unmarried.
