FRIED, Claire
Married to Bertrand Fried, Claire E. Fried was born in Suffolk and studied at St Martin's School of Art, London 1975-1977 and obtained her B.A. (hons) degree in Art and Design. A fashion designer in Paris 1977-1991 for Dior, Givenchy, Junko Shimada, Emmanuelle Khan, Sonia Rykiel and others. In 2012 she took a summer course in Sight-Size Technique in oils at Charles Cecil Studios and in 2016 a one-year diploma in oil painting techniques under Martin Kinnear at the Norfolk Painting School and since 2017 she has run Artspace Gallery at 64 Thoroughfare, Woodbridge, Suffolk. A member of the Ipswich Art Society and the Colchester Art Society, she works in oils on linen or board, in landscapes, portraits and still life and her new work is based on her residency and cultural exchange in Wenzhou, China in Autumn 2019.
