POCKLINGTON, Miss Daphne Violet

1908 - 1987

Born at Egham, Surrey on 25 August 1908, daughter of Irish born Alfred William Sharpe Pocklington (1873-1934), and his wife Leonie Clara née Berthoud (1878-1923), who married at Kensington, London in 1906. In 1911, a 2 year old living at Broadwater, Wraysbury, Buckinghamshire with her parents, 37 year old Alfred and 32 year old Lionie and retained three servants, who were born in Suffolk. Miniature portrait painter and an Associate of the Royal Miniature Society in 1930 where she exhibited 1929-1933 from London in 1929 and from Capel St Mary, Suffolk 1930, she also exhibited at the Royal Academy. She married at Chelsworth, Suffolk in 1933, Revd Col. Harry Earle Garland (1901-1992), who was buried at Parham, Suffolk. In 1939 she was living at Stone Street Farm, Kersey, near Hadleigh, with a nurse and a servant cook, and she died at Bakewell, Derbyshire in 1987.
