REES, John Charles

1878 - 1964

Born at Hackney, London on 2 November 1878, eldest child of John Charles Rees (1843-1899), a railway clerk, and his wife Sarah Ann née Day, who married at Hethersett, Norfolk on 28 January 1878. On the death of his father in 1899, the family moved to Ipswich living at 6 Friars Street, Priory Place and in 1911 young John was a 32 year old artist living at 21 Kings Avenue, Ipswich, with his 61 year old widowed mother, born Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and his three siblings, Ivor 30, Cedric 27 and Evelyn 21, all born at Forest Gate, Essex. He married at Ipswich in 1922, Eva P. Baker, who was born on 20 January 1883, and in 1939 a retired advertising manager living with his wife at 95 Langer Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk. He died at Felixstowe in 1964, aged 85, his wife had died at Wandsworth, London the previous year.
