SCOTT-MONCRIEFF, William Walter
William Walter Scott-Moncrieff was born at St George's Hanover Square, London on 8 March 1886, second of the four children of William Dundas Scott-Moncrieff (11 May 1846-1 December 1924), civil engineer, and his wife Emily Mary de Gilbert (1860-1929), daughter of Philippe Marie de Gilbert, who married on 21 April 1881. He served with distinction as an officer in the Royal Engineers during the First World War being awarded the Military Cross. He married at Chelsea, London on 18 August 1938 a Danish lady, Kirsten Ingwersen (15 May 1914-2006) and in 1939, an architect, living at 2 Kings Road, Windsor, Berkshire with his wife Kirsten. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from his home at Horham, Suffolk in 1955. The author of John Francis Bentley, Master of Architecture (1924). William Walter Scott-Moncrieff died at 55 Newmarket Road, Norwich, Norfolk on 29 September 1971.
