CARRUTHERS, Rosemary

Rosemary Carruthers was born in 1943. She studied at Canterbury and Bideford Art Colleges and taught GCE 'O' level and recreational art. Rosemary worked from life models in Leslie Marr’s (1922-2021) studio and studied life painting with Dick Lee (1923-2001) in the 1980s. She works in gouache, acrylic and oil and her paintings are small in scale with subjects taken from everyday life such as figures relaxing in domestic interiors, musicians, corners of tables, views through doors and windows as well as parts of gardens and landscapes. A member of Institute of East Anglian Artists, Rosemary has exhibited in the West Country in the early 1970s and has had work accepted by the Royal Academy and the New English Art Club and has exhibited at Thompson's Gallery, Aldeburgh, School House Gallery, Wighton, Norfolk, Llewellyn Alexander, London, Mall Galleries, London and elsewhere in Norfolk, Suffolk, Yorkshire, and London. Rosemary Carruthers has lived in Norfolk since 1973 and has studios in Norfolk and Suffolk.
