ROSE, Ravenor Edward

1833 - 1919

Born at Finsbury, London on 23 July and baptised at St Luke, Old Street, Finsbury on 14 August 1833, son of Edward Rose and his wife Caroline. In 1861 32[sic] year old married 'Town Missionary' at Horsford St Faiths, Norfolk with three children, his wife is away and in 1871 a 38 year old Wesleyan minister living at Upper Street, Hillmorton, Rugby, Warwickshire with a 39 year old wife Susannah, born Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire and seven children, Seth 17, born Drayton, Henry John 15, Mary Anne 13, Jane 11, Sarah 8, Ravenor Edward 4 and newly born Theodore Arthur, all born at Horsford, both in Norfok. By 1881 a 49 year old indendent minister living at The Manse, The Street, East Bergholt, Suffolk with his 51 year old wife Susannah and two daughters 23 year old Mary Ann and 18 year old Sarah. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1885-1895 exhibited from East Bergholt in 1881 a watercolour 'River and Meadows near Higham' and in 1886 three works 'Thorington Street, Stoke by Nayland', 'Felixstowe Church' and 'Holton, Suffolk' and in 1887 'Frog's Hall, Bentley' and 'Mill at Bentley' and in 1889 he exhibited from 4 Albert Terrace, Brentwood, Essex an oil 'Young Waltonians'. By 1891, a congregational minister at Upper Street, Colyton, Devon and he died in the Axminster area of Devon in 1919. His son Ravenor Edward Rose died at Stow, Suffolk in 1929, aged 62.
