SEAGER, Robert

1847 - 1921

Born at Ipswich in 1847, son of Robert Seager, pork butcher, and his wife Caroline née Jackson, who married at Ipswich in 1844 and lived in St Peter's Street, Ipswich. Robert married at Ipswich in 1868 Hannah Spencer of Westhall, Suffolk. Landscape painter in oil and watercolour and a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1896-1910 but exhibited from 1885 'An Evening View, Walberswick' and 'An Old Wall, Walberswick' exhibiting some twenty-four works including watercolours 'A View of Oulton Broad', 'Evening View of Lake Lothing' and an oil 'A Bit of Lowestoft Harbour'. In 1901 living at 7 Dalton Road, Ipswich with his 55 year old wife Hannah and their two daughters 30 year old Euphie, a music teacher, and 28 year old Mabel [q.v.], a commercial clerk. He died at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk in 1921, aged 74.
