Jonathan Daniel Boast was born at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1974, son of David Geoffrey Boast and his wife Julie née Young, who married at Chelmsford, Essex in 1966, Jonathan's younger sister is the acclaimed poet Rachael Boast. Jonathan began his career as a photographer in the fashion and commercial sector working with the likes of Daimler Chrysler and several fashion houses. During his time at art schools in Wales and Barcelona, his work became more expressive and experimental and on his return to England he founded Gallery 52a in Hackney and began to mentor student artists in career progression and exhibition curation and promotion. His time in London saw collaborations with Gilbert and George Art Gallery as well as work with Abbey Road Studios, the Globe Theatre, Historic Royal palaces, the National Trust, and many others. He is best known for his collaborative mural works such as the Tull Murals; 'Crossing the White Line', which was exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of a National Lottery Heritage Fund best successes celebration having been created with Action for Children, and together with 'Missing Colours' were both created with community engagement workshops that use creative activities to educate and inform participants. In 2009 Westminster Abbey commissioned him to create a stained glass and steel monolith to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the internment of the Unknown Warrior. In 2009 Jonathan returned to Suffolk and set up a studio continuing to exhibit and undertake commissions in oil, acrylic, sculpture, and photography and was Artist in Residence at Ipswich Museum and Art Gallery. He has exhibited locally at Lavenham's Ariel Gallery, Ipswich Tourist Information and elsewhere
