SMART, Lucy
Lucy Smart was born at Ipswich and baptised at St Stephens Church, Ipswich on 24 February 1793, daughter of John Smart and his wife Sarah née Abbott and sister of John Smart. Educated at Mr. Butt's boarding school in Ipswich. A member of the Ipswich Society of Professional & Amateur Artists from 1834, where she was tutored by Henry Davy. In 1851, Lucy was a 58-year-old flower painter, living at Upper Brook Street, Ipswich, the home of her brother John and his family. Lucy Smart died at Ipswich in 1854, she was unmarried.
