MERCURY GALLERY

1964 - ?

The Mercury Gallery was established by Gillian Raffles at 26 Cork Street, London in May 1964. Its aim was to exhibit and champion the work of young figurative British artists and to deal in sculpture, paintings and works on paper by 20th Century British and European Artists. In 2001 Gillian Raffles vacated the gallery space in Cork Street but continued to specialise in the work of Henri Gaudier-Brzeska from home. The gallery now stages exhibitions in association with other galleries.

The Digby Gallery uses the Mercury Theatre at Colchester for exhibitions and there was a Mercury Gallery in Edinburgh which ceased trading around the year 2000.
