TURNER, Edith Rose
Edith Rose Turner was born at Elm Street, Ipswich on 14 August 1863, daughter of Walton Turner (15 February 1822-4 December 1904), leather merchant, and his wife Susan Pierson (1822-July 1874), daughter of Samuel Pierson, who married at Framlingham, Suffolk on 16 April 1846. An artist in oil of landscapes and a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1875-1890 and exhibited from St Mary Elms, Ipswich in 1883, a drawing 'On the Orwell', in 1884 a sketch 'River Orwell' and 'A Sketch' and six other works including in 1886 'Near Bramford' and 'Pin Mill' and in 1889 'Corner of the Old River'. She married at St Mary Elms Church, Ipswich on 21 December 1891, Malcolm James Rowley Dunstan (19 August 1863-28 May 1938), principal of South Eastern Agricultural College at High Street, Wye, Kent 1902-1922 where Edith was living in 1911 with their two daughters, Joan Margaret 15 and Hester Muriel 13, they also had a son Eric Cipriani Dunstan, born on 6 April 1894. From 1922 her husband Malcolm was principal of the Royal Agricultural College at Cirencester until 1927. In 1939, Edith Rose Dunstan was living at Woodhouse Heath House, Malling, Kent and she died at Barfield Offham, near West Malling on 24 May 1943, aged 79.
