TURNER, Miss Margaret Louisa

1852 - 1930

Born at Colchester, Essex in 1852, daughter of Sayers Turner (1815-1880), an attorney at law, and his wife Louisa Clare née Williams, who married at Colchester in 1843. In 1871 an 18 year old living at High Street, Colchester with her parents, 55 year old Sayers and 50 year old Louisa, with five siblings, Beresford George 22, Josepha B. 20, Frances G. 16, Cecil 13 and Maud 9, all born in Colchester. She exhibited at Ipswich Fine Art Club from East Hill, Colchester in 1882 'Waiting for Dinner' (171) and in 1891 'Grannies Treasure' and in 1893 'Reflected Glory' and 'Cut off in their Prime'. As Margaret Louisa Patterson, a widow, she married at Kensington on 16 December 1902, Lawrence Romney (1857-1932), who lived for some time at Tudor Cottage in Guildford, being estranged from his wife. She died at 49 Elsom Road, Kensington, London on 16 October 1930.
