BIDDELL, Anna

1831 - 1910

Anna Biddell was baptised at Playford, Suffolk on 6 January 1831, daughter of Arthur Biddell (1783-25 May 1860) and his wife Mary née Ransome (1789-21 July 1855) of Ipswich, who married at Greenstead, Colchester on 4 July 1817. The Biddell’s were substantial landowners and farmers at Playford, near Ipswich, friends of the Sir George Biddell Airy (1801-1892) and the Arthur Young families, farmers. Anna was the elder sister of Herman Biddell. In 1881, unmarried, living with her widowed sister Jane Everard at 15 Henley Road, Ipswich together with another unmarried sibling, 51-year-old Ellen. A member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1884-1885 but does not seem to have exhibited. By 1891, the sisters had moved along the road to No. 29 Henley Road and were still there ten years later. Anna Biddell died, unmarried, at Henley Road, Ipswich on 14 April 1910, aged 79 and buried at St Mary's Playford churchyard.
