POOLEY, Annie Violet

1871 - 1924

Born at Stonham Aspal Rectory, Suffolk on 20 February and baptised at Stonham Aspal, Blessed Virgin Mary, on 21 April 1871, third child of Revd John George Pooley (1836-1902)and his wife Caroline Agnes (1843-1925), 3rd daughter of Maj.Gen. Henry Blois Turner of Holton Hall, Suffolk, who married Holton Church on 15 January 1867, Annie was a sister-in-law to Dulcibella Brooke [q.v.]. A painter in oil of landscapes, figures and animals and a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1897-1898 and exhibited from Stonham Aspal Vicarage in 1895 'Felixstowe Donkeys' and 'Buff', in 1896 'Sketch of an Old Woman, Holland' and 'Sketches of Cottages at Hilversune, Holland' and in 1897 an oil 'Aspal Hall' exhibiting some some fifteen works 1895-1898. She was still living at Stonham Aspal Rectory on 1901 but died at St Martin, London in 1924, aged 53, she was unmarried.
