BOWMAN, Edmund

1845 - 1891

Born at St. Ann’s Lane, London in 1845, son of Edmund Birkett Bowman, B.A. (1812-1860), schoolmaster, and his wife Harriet née Edwards, both born at Ipswich. In 1871 a 26 year old painter (artist) living with his uncle Wray Palliser Lamb, a printer & engraver, at 14 St Margaret’s Street, Ipswich. He married at Ipswich the following year, Emma Lambert and he seems to have given up being an artist and in 1881 a 35 year old letter carrier living at 35 William Street, Ipswich with his 33 year old wife Emma, born Copdock, near Ipswich and their three children, all born at Ipswich. He died at Ipswich in 1891, aged 45.
