PRENTICE, William Robert

1878 - 1962

Born at Ipswich on 17 September 1878, son of Henry Prentice, a printer's reader, and his wife Sarah Ann née Day, who married at Ipswich in 1867. In 1881, a 2 year old living at 5 High Street, Ipswich with his parents, 39 year old Henry and 39 year old Sarah, with eight siblings, Bertha Frances 13, Florence Ann 11, Agnes Caroline 10, Arnold Thomas 9, Ellen Elizabeth 7, Eliza Ann 5, Henry Ernest 4 and new born Percy John, all born in Ipswich, they had another son Stanley Richard born 1885. In 1891 they were living in Bulwer Road, Ipswich in in 1911 at 27 Berners Street, Ipswich. He married at Ipswich in 1907, Marion Beatrice Peck and in 1911 a clerk in the tramways department living at 52 Bristol Road, Ipswich with his 29 year old wife Marion, born Ipswich. A painter of landscapes in oil and watercolour and a member of Ipswich Art Club 1912-1914 and exhibited from from 52 Bristol Road, Ipswich in 1911 an oil 'Blackhall Caves, West Hartlepool' and a watercolour 'Still Life Group' and from 'Boynton', Crabbe Street, Ipswich in 1912 an oil 'Flower Study' and watercolours 'Blackhall Rocks, Castle Eden' and 'Fire Reflections' and in 1913 two oils 'Gathering Clouds, Durham Coast' and 'Fruit Study'. In 1939 a commercial clerk, living at 104 Ranelagh Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk with his wife Marion (23 December 1881-1958) and William died in the Lothingland district in 1962.
