SHAW, Margaret Olive

1904 - 1997

Margaret Olive Shaw was born at Woodbridge, Suffolk on 17 September1904, daughter of Herbert Alfred Shaw,(6 February 1868-1942), 2nd master at Seckford Hospital School, and his wife Agnes Margaret née Airy [Shaw q.v.], who married at Woodbridge in 1899. In 1911, a 6 year old living at The Mount, Woodbridge with her parents, Herbert 43 and Agnes 36, with sibling brother Herbert Kenneth Airy Shaw 8. A painter in oil of figures and portraits and a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1926-1930 and exhibited from The Hayes, Woodbridge in 1927 three oils 'Molly', 'Maimie' and 'The Mighty Hunter' but does not seem to have exhibited again. She married at Woodbridge in 1933, Edgar Wolston Bertram Handsley Milne-Redhead (1906-1996), the botanist and pioneer plant conservationist, and she became a botanical illustrator. She died at Colchester, Essex in 1997.
