THIRTLE, Janet Isabel

1885 - c.1963

Born at Bungay, Suffolk on 27 February and baptised at Bungay St Mary on 2 April 1885, daughter of John Farrer Thirtle (1853-1926) and his wife Eliza née McJannet, who married at Erpingham, Norfolk in 1883 and lived at the family linen draper's business at Market Place, Bungay. In 1911 still living at Market Place, Bungay with her parents, 57 year old John and 51 year old Eliza, and sibling sister Dorothy Frances 19 of their four children. A painter in oil of figure subjects and a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1905-1908 and exhibited five works including 'Grandmother's Friends', 'Just Arrived' and 'The Jailers'. She was still living with her parents in 1911 and died on 10 October 1863, and buried in Bungay Cemetery, she was unmarried.
