BROWN, Thomas Stirling

1865 - 1927

Born at Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire on 28 July 1865, son of Thomas Brown and his wife Annie née Ritchie. In 1901 a 35 year old ‘living on own means’ at Granham’s Road, Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire, the home of his 34 year old sister Margaret and her 37 year old husband, William A D Rudge, a tutor & lecturer at Cambridge University. Brown painted mainly animals and exhibited at Birmingham Royal Society of Artists, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Liverpool Walker Art Gallery, the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Scottish Academy 1902-1915 from Shelford, Cambridgeshire in 1902, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1903, Drumchapel, Glasgow 1909 and Glasgow 1911.
