DE POIX, Edmond Albert Joseph Francois Marie Tyrel

1840 - 1916

Born Edmond de Poix Tyrel at 42 Britannia Square, Whistone, Worcester in 1840, son of John De Poix Tyrel (1811-1883), author & tutor, who was born at Botesdale, Suffolk, and his wife Mary. Educated at Strood, Gloucestersshire and in 1871 a 30 year old artist, secretary and friend to 58 year old Henry Liddell, a retired corn factor, at Long Benton Village, Northumberland. He seemingly dropped the name of Tyrel and in 1881 as Edmond De Poix, a 39[sic] year old landscape painter living at 3 Argyle Road, Kensington, London together with his 68 year old father John Le Poix Tyrel. He married at Kensington in 1883, Eugenie Alice Wentworth Pemberton (12 September 1854-1944) and they had at least four children, including Hugh [q.v.] and they came to live at Bungay, Suffolk. In 1911, a 70 year old Justice of the Peace, living at Broome Place, Loddon Road, Broome, Bungay, Suffolk - Broome is actually in Norfolk - with his 26 year old son Gautier or Walter, a barrister-at-law and several servants. A member and exhibitor at the Woodpecker Art Club, later the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle 1905-1916 from Bungay, Suffolk. He died at East Preston, Sussex in 1916 and his wife died The Lodge Farm, Loddon Norfolk in 1944.
