COOKE, Daphne Violet
Daphne Violet Cook[e] was born at Stanton, Suffolk on 5 December 1903, eldest daughter of James Cook, a farm labourer, and his wife Isabella née Jarrold (21 September 1882-1986), who married at Stanton in 1903. In 1911, Daphne was a 7-year-old living at Bury Lane, Stanton, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk with her parents, James 33 and Isabella 29 and siblings Ernest Sidney J. 6 and Ivy 3. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1932-1936, exhibiting from The Cottage, Great Livermere, Suffolk in 1932, two pictures 'Changing Pastures' and a watercolour 'Cows in a Meadow', in 1933 three pictures 'Group of Cows', 'A Stackyard' and 'Livermere Park', in 1935 two pictures 'Mare and Foal' and 'Wintering Out'. From The Cottage, Great Livermere she was also a member and exhibitor at the Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle 1933-1935. Daphne married at Stanton, Bury St Edmund's on 28 December 1935, Thomas William Henry Lord (15 April 1906-1984) and in 1939, living at Breach Cottage, Botesdale, Suffolk with her husband. Daphne Violet Lord died at 17 Sandy Lane, Barningham, Bury St Edmund's on 3 August 1994.
