PEASE, Oliver

1920 - 1978

Oliver Richard Pease was born at Bramley, Yorkshire on 19 November 1920, youngest child of Henry Pease (4 September 1877-22 May 1956), a butcher, and his wife Hannah Jane née Myatt (7 September 1878-24 July 1967), who married at Leeds in 1904 and in 1921 were living at 1 Copley Street, New Wortley, Yorkshire with seven of their children. In 1939, Oliver was an apprentice draughtsman, living at Oakham Villa, 27 Wilford Road, Leeds, Yorkshire with his parents and siblings, Eleanor Harriet (born 27 October 1906), Margaret Ann (born 28 October 1909) and Miriam A. Stockwell, née Pease (born 29 January 1916). During the Second World War, Oliver as a lance corporal in the army was taken prisoner by the Japanese in 1942 and interned in Thailand, being released on 12 September 1945. He married at Wharfedale, Yorkshire in 1947, Geraldine Maude Farrar (3 October 1921-14 October 2013) and their son Simon was born in Leeds in 1949. They moved to Lowestoft, Suffolk and Oliver Richard Pease died at 84 Kirkley Park Road, Lowestoft on 17 November 1978 when his wife continued to live at Lowestoft where she died in 2013, aged 92.
