Hubert Airy

Born at Greenwich, London on 14 June and baptised on 12 October 1838, one of the nine children of Sir George Biddell Airy (1801-1892), Astronomer Royal from 1831 until 1881, and his wife Richarda née Smith (1804–1875), who married in 1830. Hubert married at Cockermouth in 1872, Susan Cecilia née Langton (1837-1924) their only son was Arthur Langton Airy [q.v.] but had two daughters Mary Gabrielle and Agnes Margaret [Shaw q.v.]. An English physician, pioneer in the study of migraine. He exhibited from Stoke House, Woodbridge at the Woodbridge Industrial and Art Exhibitions in 1887 four watercolours 'Entrance to Yarmouth Haven', 'Playford Hall, Autumn', 'Trees in Greenwich Park' and 'Red Poppies on Mirror'. He died at Woodbridge on 1 June 1903.
