Verena Daniels

As Verena Ann Harris, she was born at Ipswich in 1949, daughter of Frederick Charles Harris (13 April 1914-) and his wife Ellen R M née Damant (15 December 1913-), who married at Ipswich in 1940. Verena studied at the Ipswich School of Art being tutored by Tony Dockerill, Colin Moss and Glynn Thomas developing her printmaking skills. She married in Samford district of Suffolk in 1972, Richard Michael Daniels and now works under the name of Verena Daniels. Verena spent 10 years in Nottingham before returning to Felixstowe and working in Abbeygate Lighting and, on completion of an Art & Design degree in 2001, set up a workshop with a fellow artist. In 2002, together with Pat Todd, opened Reunion Gallery at 36 Gainsborough Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk which was open until 2013. Verena has been working with glass for many years, the techniques are fusing and slumping using abstract pieces of glass to depict a landscape or natural form, also using copper foil and wire as you would with drawing. Coloured glass is used to reflect the changing moods and light. Verena worked from her studio at 85 Western Avenue, Felixstowe and exhibited at Art on the Prom at Felixstowe from 2015. She joined the Artworks group in 2003 and was a full member of the Suffolk Open Studios from 36 Gainsborough Road, Felixstowe and her work has been exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally.
