CURL, Ernest Albert

1871 - 1953

Ernest Alfred Curl was born at Norwich on 31 December 1871 and baptised at St Martin At Oak, Norwich on 10 March 1872, son of Jacob Curl (1838-1895), a draper, and his wife Maria née Whitby (1842-1916), who married at Norwich in 1868. In 1901, a 29 year old draper, living at Heathfield, Ipswich Road, Eaton, Norwich with his widowed mother and 19 year old sister Mabel. He married at Norwich in 1915 Emily Hastings. As Ernest A. Curl in 1933, he exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club, from Newlands, Thorpe Village, Norwich, a watercolour 'At Antibes'. He died at North Walsham, Norfolk in 1953 and his wife died in 1962, when her age was given as 96 [90]. His nephew was Henley Graham Curl [q.v.]
