Mark Burrell was born at Lowestoft, Suffolk in 1957, son of Norman J. Burrell (born 1930) and his wife Mary E. née Hilton, who married at Lowestoft in 1954. Mark studied at Lowestoft College of Art 1975-1976 where he was artist in residence 1991-1994 engaged in adult education. Mark then worked at Oriel High School, Gorleston, Norfolk and, together with the children, worked on a mural at the Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft. Painter in oil of allegories, fables and fiction fantasies and exhibited at the Royal Academy and has also exhibited at Chappel Galleries, Essex; Ferini Art Gallery, Pakefield; Norwich Castle Museums and Art Galleries; Eastern Open Kings Lynn; The Cut Halesworth; Open Studios, Lowestoft; The Warehouse, Lowestoft; The Forum, Norwich; Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham; John Russell Gallery, Ipswich; Cork Street Gallery, London; Mall Galleries, London; Williamsburg Historical Art Centre, New York and Galerie de Vis Noorderhaven, Holland. Awarded Anglia Television's 'Moving Art Prize' and the 'Lucy Morison Memorial Prize' in A View of the New at the New Royal Over-Seas League. Mark is a member of Easterly Artists and one of the leading members of the North Sea Magical Realists and donated a work to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2013, a watercolour & pen 'The Swan Boat' and in 2014 'Feeding the Birds'.
